2014 silverado temp gauge not working fans on high

I have a 2014 Silverado 5.3L and my coolant temp gauge stops working on my gauge panel and my radiator fan runs wide open. I replaced the coolant temp sensor with an Autozone part on Dec.16. The problem was fixed (I thought). On Jan 4, the problem was back. Gauge bottoms out again to zero and fan runs wide open. I thought maybe just a bad sensor.
