If killed and ..., Either the "Throwing Stone" needs a condition to have more damage against some birds (i.e. crows and pigeons) or the birds health is too much. It can sometimes take me 3 hits with a stone (2.5 damage) at close range to kill them. I can suggest a 3x damage bonus against those birds using stones, larger birds maybe 2x damage bonus., So 6 16x16 fields would need like 15-18 workers would be my guess depending on the season and what you plant.
