Jan 27, 2009 · In the era when the H was built, horsepower in advertising was rarely mentioned for any tractor; tractors were mostly gas and most farmers did not "monkey "mit da engines". Tractors were rated and sold by the terms "2 plow", "3 plow", etc. An H is a "2 plow" and an M is "3 plow". JD B was 2 plow, A was 3 plow, G actually a "3.3" plow. Because the engine is taller in the M, the hood is higher and gives the whole tractor a somewhat more massive and compact look. Because the hood is taller than on the H, the steering shaft comes out of the hood at a shallower angle than on the H. Restoring my farmall h and had a question about the grill. The one on it has two holes in the center which looks like the mounting holes for the IH on the super tractors. However I do think my MD looks good with bigger tires. Vision for it is power steering, wide front with 6.50-16s and a set of front wheel weights and 14.9x38s on the rear with two-sets or wheel weights. S.
